Rescaled Model
The studio activity for this week outlined that we needed to downsize our model from last week. As I had already done 1:20 in week 5/6, I used a scale of 1:50.

Lighting and Scale
Roof (week 5/6 paper folding) w/ figure (without extension addon) |
Reflection
Adding the figure into the model allowed me to represent the scale of the room. It also prompted me to think about possibly expanding the size of the room, so it becomes a larger living room space. I also want to think about changing the size of the entrances to create more interesting thresholds and openings.

Reflection
This cutout paper roof allowed me to create interesting shadows and effectively show the type of lighting this room receives at different times of the day.

This is a very rough 1:25 model. I experimented with paper folding techniques for the stairs and added new openings (doors and windows). Next week, I hope to refine this model. (update: fixed - shown in wk8 blogpost)
Fusion 360 Initials
Review
Overall I struggled to complete this task for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, my initials (IJK) are very geometric, linear shapes and were difficult to adapt into more dynamic and smooth forms. Secondly, as I was adding the shell effect onto my work, I ran into some problems similar to Russel's in his tutorial, as well as others (pictured is one below). In comparison to Russel's model, mine creates more geometric lines, rather than smooth curves, which I believe creates a unique presentation. In the final result, I instead used a thickness of 1.5mm as it allowed the project to be more open.
While I found this task challenging, it allowed me to push my comfort zone and create shapes I wouldn't have initially considered. This assignment also allowed me to further my new and developing skills in Fusion360.
