What buildings or structures are on the site?

Where do we get into the buildings? 
  • Fig tree theatre: two entrance doors 
  • Whitehouse: open space, interior and exterior seating

What other openings are there (for example, windows)? 
  • Fig tree theatre: only windows are in the front entrance by the door. No other windows as they would affect the lighting on stage 
  • Whitehouse: windows along the top and bottom floor, balcony on top floor
Are they multilevel (if so, how do we get from one to the other?) 
  • Fig tree theatre: only one level 
  • Whitehouse: 2 levels, stairs are placed on the exterior of the building (but are covered by the roofing system) 
How far apart are they?

What are the natural elements on the site?
  • Tree grove and green space, shrubs, rocks



Material Elements

What are the manmade elements composed of? e.g. Brick, Steel, Glass, Sandstone etc.
  • Stainless steel, concrete, timber, corrugated iron, sandstone



How do people use the site?
  • Primarily a social setting
  • Used as a main walkway to enter and exit into spaces
  • Serene area to relax and sit on the timber stairs
  • Fig Tree Theatre: used for NIDA students as a production and theatre stage



Is there a thoroughfare?
  • Yes


Is there a contemplative space?

  • Yes, there is a number of places within the site to relax

What are the different intended or unintended functions of the site? (for example, do people use the space to rehearse dance routines, smoke cigarettes or simply sit on the grass)
  • Ping pong table allows students to socialise while playing a game
  • Besides the Whitehouse (only available for 18+), the only areas to sit within our section are the stairs - no adequate seating areas
